Backpacking Brazil

So how do you describe yourself to the world?

Firstly let me begin by saying, 'Don't believe everything you read on the internet'.

Brazil
CamburiVisited three times and would love to go go back again but a winning lottery ticket might be required for this. Speak Portuguese to a level where I get by on the phone but not enough to understand a film or TV show completely. I still employ the 'nod your head and smile' strategy when people talk too quickly for me to follow. Works the world over for all languages.

Pictured is my favourite place in all of Brazil. Camburi, SP. saudades ne?

Lives
Sydney, Australia. Yeah, I won the lottery a birth.

PhysicalMyself and friend
179cm (5'10) and 82kg (180lb).
Blonde hair that is disappearing, blue eyes that are not and a complexion that makes me nervous about skin cancer. Recently turned 30 years. Ouch.

I'm on the left, trusted friend travis the right. Good times.

Mental
Studied exercise phyisology at university. Added a Grad Dip in Financial Markets to this last year.

Work
Just gained my security clearance (i.e. Government proof I'm a nice guy) to start work with AUSTRAC, a federal agency that aims to detect money laundering, terrorism funding and drug money. It sounds more interesting that it probably is. I sit at a desk in front of computer. Anything interesting I couldn't tell you anyway.

Have previously been paid to: move furniture, wash dishes, make cocktails, pour beer, organise sporting events, shuffle paper in London, teach exercise physiology, train personal trainers and tell people the bad news about their weight, blood pressure, cholesterol and blood sugar levels. It's all a lot more complicated than this but who is really interested?

Sport
AFLPlay Australia Rules Football which will be completely foreign to most of you. Requires a nice blend of athleticism & skill. Lots of running, some contact.

My club is St George AFC in the Sydney Premier League. Premier in name only though. The league should be one level below the national professional competition but sadly it is a long way from this standard.I just retired.

Like anything outdoors and active. Grew up at a beach so I like surfing. Bodyboarding actually.

Books I've read more than once
To Kill A Mockingbird - Harper Lee
Why can't there be more people like Atticus Finch in the world?
Finding a Common Interest: The Story of Dick Dusseldorp and Lend Lease - Lindie Clark
Stencil Grafiti Capital: Melbourne - Jake Smallman and Carl Nyman
It's Not About the Bike - Lance Armstrong/Sally Jenkins
Moneyball: The art of winning an unfair game - Michael Lewis
Freakonomics: A rogue economist explores the hidden side of everything - Steven Levitt and Stephen Dubner
And anything by Ben Elton.

Film
Fucking Åmål, The Castle, Central do Brasil and hundreds of others.

Philosophies
Tough guys usually aren't tough guys at all. They're more insecure than the rest of us.
The more homophobic a person is the more insecure they are likely to be about their own sexuality. What are they so nervous about?

Miscellaneous
Banksy I don't know art but I know what I like.
Stencil Revolution A city is a canvas.
Cronulla Beach The beach where I grew up but it is now famous for all the wrong reasons.
Shark Island What Cronulla should be famous for.
